Decorating the home is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Now that my kids are getting older, decorating is becoming more important to me. These are the memories that my children will remember!
Getting started with holiday decorating can be a costly task. But it doesn’t have to be!
There are a lot of great ways to decorate your home for the holidays on a budget.

My greatest inspiration is Pinterest. So many people have created fantastic boards with holiday decorating DIY craft ideas and many of these ideas can be done even on the tightest budget!
Here are a few ways that you can decorate for Christmas without spending a lot of money:

Hang a collection of glitter balls with ribbon and tulle from your curtain rod to give your room a little extra color.
If you find a few Jo-Ann Fabrics coupons before shopping, this project could be done really cheap!
Also, a lot of times if you go on Black Friday or the day after, these kinds of decorations can be picked up for next to nothing.
We will be using this idea in our home at Christmas time, it’s such a perfect way to decorate a large window!

Glass jars and candles are so easy to find, cheaply! Fill them with corn, acorns, and candles, to make the perfect mantel accessory or table centerpiece.
Last year, I purchased a few of these jars for less than $5 a piece, filled them with different color ornaments and tied a ribbon on for the perfect Christmas look.
Lined up on your mantel along with some red glitter candles, this is a very inexpensive way to decorate for Christmas!
Take those same jars and use them at Thanksgiving with Pumpkins, fake leaves and acorns to create a festive Thanksgiving decoration.

This idea is probably my absolute favorite.
We are creating memories for our children, so why not decorate our homes during the holidays with crafts made by our children?
A wall canvas, paints, and the love from your little one’s hands, can create a sentimental holiday decoration that you will cherish for years.
These are just a few simple ideas of how you can spruce up your home during the holidays, the ones posted were all inspired by Pinterest.

I do resolve to be better about sticking to a budget in 2013! I was able to get some Christmas clearance items that I can use to decorate with next year.
Thanks for the ideas!
I am in love with the wreath and the handprint artwork. Adorable! Great ideas.
The lentil filled candle is very simple and pretty. Love it. Also, the Christmas tree hand is something I am going to do with my kiddos today! I am trying to do a few Christmas projects every week until Christmas and I have everything needed to do that. :)
I LOVE the Christmas Tree Canvas done by your kids!! As my daughter gets older (shes almost 2) I’ve been getting more & more into decorating! It makes it 10x more fun knowing that she can help by making her own decorations. Thank you so much for sharing!!! :)
These are the cutest decorations! The santa wreath is adorable!
Great ideas! I love that santa wreath. The handprint tree would make such a great gift. :)
